⚡ Image Compressor
Compress an image in your browser, compare its file size before and after, and download the result. PNG transparency is preserved in WebP; other formats are saved as JPEG on a white background. The original stays unchanged.
JPEG compression: quality and file size
This compressor draws the image to a browser canvas and exports a JPEG at the quality value you choose. It compares the original and output file sizes so you can see whether the change actually helped.
Compare size and visual quality
The result shows the original size, compressed JPEG size, percentage change, and output dimensions. A lower quality setting usually makes a smaller file, but photographs often tolerate compression better than screenshots, diagrams, or images with small text. Inspect the preview at normal viewing size before downloading.
Format and transparency
The output is JPEG even when you upload a PNG or another image type. JPEG does not retain transparency. If the compressed output is larger than the source or loses important detail, keep the original or try a different quality setting.
Local processing
The compression operation runs in the browser using a canvas; the image bytes are not uploaded by this feature's code. Very large images may require more memory than a phone or browser has available.
